Why Superbolt® Tensioners Excel in High and Low Temperatures
Superbolt® tensioners are built for extremes, whether it’s icy depths or blazing heat. From frigid mining sites to scorching gas turbines, our multi-jackbolt tensioners (MJTs) deliver reliable performance where ordinary bolts would fail. They’ve even ventured into outer space, proving that when the environment gets tough, Superbolt steps up like a true hero.
Superbolt multi-jackbolt tensioners (MJTs) are suitable for a wide range of temperatures and environments. Depending on the model and application, our standard range of MJTs can operate in conditions as low as -10ºC and up to 250ºC (0 to 500ºF). Our standard models include MT, SJ, SB8, and SB12 tensioners.
Frigid, icy temperatures won’t stop the efficient tightening ability of Superbolt tensioners. Our GT, GTS and CY series tensioners boast a temperature range of -40 to 250ºC (-50 to 500ºF). Our range of lower-temperature tensioners are acceptable for functions in industries like mining, hydropower, and offshore drilling.
With product applications that dive below sea level and soar past the clouds, the team at Nord-Lock Group is no stranger to extreme environments. Our H650 and H650 nut-style tensioners (up to 350ºC or 650ºF) have been used on large studs on the following projects: boiler feed pumps, reactors, and heat exchangers.
Specialized tensioners that require higher temperatures can be developed. In fact, our elite team of engineers have designed a tensioner that can withstand 700 ºC (1292 ºF) in gas turbines.
If your next project includes extreme temperatures, we invite you to consult a Superbolt engineer. To ensure proper performance and safety, the appropriate tensioner must be selected for your specific application and conditions.
