Pivot pin engineering expertise

Expander System has been installed more than two million times to overcome wear and repair challenges in machinery or equipment with mechanical pivots. With these pins central to the function of almost all heavy equipment, we specialize in their design to extend operation, shorten downtime, simplify installation and removal, and permanently eliminate lug wear.

HOW IT WORKS

The Expander System is installed directly into the existing mounting
Upon tightening the fasteners, the washer presses the slotted expansion sleeve up the tapered ends of the pin
The sleeves expand, conform with the wear pattern and lock the system in the lug ears
Once retorqued, the system will lock from both sides

Permanently eliminate lug wear

Lug wear occurs when pivot joints experience play, due to the clearance between bore holes and conventional pins. The sleeves of Expander System expand to conform to the wear pattern and lock the system into place.

Change the load case

From simple support to fixed support, reduce bending to avoid pin seizure and redistribute load on the bearing. Less impact force on the bearing reduces overall pivot wear.

Reduce line boring & welding

Since the Expander System can be mounted directly into the worn lugs, there is no need for welding and line boring. In many applications, it can be installed on-site and operations can resume after a few hours.

Volvo Construction Equipment

Field-tested Expander System in the steering cylinder of a BM 4300 wheel loader. The loaders were running 24/7 at Swedish company LECA AB (Light Expanded Clay Aggregate) and showed zero occurrence of further lug wear in more than 50,000 hours (almost six years) after the installation.
