Bore wear in pivots and frames

Pivot joints and frames experience bore wear from repeated articulation and loading, often resulting in misalignment and reduced machine performance. 
 

Solution: Expander® System pivot pins restore pivot integrity and eliminate joint play without the need to rework bores or use oversized pins. Expander System eliminates bore wear and play in walking pads, propel gearcases, and boom pivots by locking into worn pin holes.

Uneven preload

Tensioning large bolts using traditional torque tools introduces safety risks and often results in uneven preload. 

 

Solution: Superbolt® multi-jackbolt tensioners make it easy to achieve accurate preload without heavy torque tools, reducing operator risk. Our tensioners allow safe, low-torque preload on large joints such as the side frame, boom point, saddle block, and girth gear assemblies. 

 

The Superbolt Tool allows for fast, safe, and consistent tightening of Superbolt tensioners on rope shovel side frame connections, improving serviceability in confined or high-load areas. 

Loosening from vibration and shock

Large structural joints and boom assemblies are constantly subjected to vibration and shock loads. This causes bolts to loosen over time, which can compromise joint integrity and lead to operational failures. 

 

Solution: Nord-Lock® wedge-locking washers secure structural fasteners against vibration, preventing bolt loosening even under extreme mechanical loading. They provide vibration-resistant locking across structural, electrical, and accessory fasteners.
